Team Deegan Falls Just Short at Regionals — Hannah Sword Shines
Bonk Golf is so proud of Hannah Sword and her Medina Country Club teammates after a hard-fought run at the PGA Jr. League Regional Championships.
The action took place at Bedford Valley Golf Club (Gull Lake View Golf Resort) in Battle Creek, Michigan. There, Team Deegan faced strong squads from Southern Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana — one step away from the PGA Jr. League National Championship in Texas.
Day One: Stroke Play
In the two-person scramble 18-hole format, Hannah and her teammate posted a solid –3. Combined with the other three pairings, the team earned a win and advanced to the second day of competition.
Day Two: Match Play
Teammates were switched for the nine-hole match play. Hannah and her new partner found themselves in the final grouping. Her teammate went –4 over the nine holes. Hannah played with remarkable calm and focus under the biggest gallery she’s ever had. She was throwing darts — just a few feet from the pin on multiple holes, and inches off the green in two on a 395-yard par 5.
In the end, Team Deegan from Medina Country Club fell by one hole. Heartbreakingly close.
This team carries a special name: Team Deegan, in memory of Deegan Bee, a young golfer who lost his life in a tragic car accident a few years ago. Competing under that banner adds extra meaning to every shot and every step on the course.
Hannah continues to represent Team Bonk with skill, composure, and steady improvement. From the sectional championship at Eagle Creek to this strong showing at regionals, she keeps growing as a player and competitor. We’re proud of her effort, focus, and how she competed when the lights were brightest.
Keep grinding, Hannah. Team Bonk is with you all the way. 🔥❤️⛳️🗡️
