Qualification Kick-Off: Solal Risse Shines in the Race for the French U14 Boys Championship

The journey to the French U14 Boys Golf Championship is officially underway, and 12-year-old Solal Risse from Lyon-Salvagny Golf Club has made a powerful start.

Organized by the French Golf Federation, the regional qualifiers in the Auvergneโ€“Rhรดne-Alpes region consist of two demanding stages that test consistency, resilience, and competitive spirit. Only the top 8 players after both events will earn their ticket to the national finals, set for July 21โ€“26, 2026.

Stage One: Strong Opening at Golf du Domaine du Gouverneur

The first leg took place on April 25โ€“26, 2026, at the prestigious Golf du Domaine du Gouverneur. Known for its beautiful yet challenging layout with water hazards and strategic demands, the course provided the perfect stage for young talents to set the tone for the season.

Solal delivered a performance full of strategy and resilience. He opened with a solid even-par round on day one, showcasing exceptionally strong putting and smart course management that kept him in control from start to finish.

Day two brought tougher conditions, especially on the front nine, where Solal found himself at +5 at the turn. True to his fighting spirit, he mounted an impressive comeback on the back nine, finishing that stretch in -1. The result was a fighting +4 second round and an outstanding overall 2nd place finish after the first stage.

This early podium position puts Solal in excellent shape heading into the decisive second qualifier.

The Road Ahead: Stage Two at Golf de Valence Saint-Didier

The qualification journey continues on June 13โ€“14, 2026, at Golf de Valence Saint-Didier. This final regional event is mandatory for players serious about advancing, as the combined results from both stages will determine who qualifies for the French Championship.

Golf de Valence Saint-Didier, with its harmonious mix of plains, hills, and woodland, will reward precision and mental toughness โ€” qualities Solal has already demonstrated.
